What is BIDI module?

1. BIDI optical module is also called WDM optical module. It uses WDM technology to realize the bidirectional transmission of optical signals on an optical fiber, that is, it only needs to use one port to transmit and receive optical signals. different center wavelengths.

2. To work efficiently, BIDI optical modules must be paired to enable bidirectional data transmission by tuning the duplexer to match the desired wavelengths of the transmitter and receiver.

3. The most obvious advantage of using BIDI optical modules, such as SFP+ BIDI and SFP BIDI optical modules, is to reduce the cost of fiber optic cabling infrastructure. BIDI optical modules reduce the number of ports on the fiber patch cord panel, reduce the footprint of the tray dedicated to fiber management, and reduce the number of fiber optic cables that need to be used.

4. Although the price of BIDI optical modules (WDM optical modules) is higher than that of traditional dual-fiber bidirectional optical modules, the quantity of light used per unit transmission distance is reduced by half. For many networks, the cost savings of using fewer fibers far outweigh the relatively high purchase price of dual-fiber bidirectional optical modules.

5. BiDi SFP optical modules are usually used in high-performance integrated duplex data links through a single optical fiber. If the transmission distance is within 40km, the wavelength scheme of BiDi SFP optical modules is 1310nm/1550nm, 1310nm/1490nm; if the transmission distance is more than 40km , the wavelength scheme of BiDi SFP optical module is 1550nm/1490nm.
