1.Description

The wavelength division multiplexer uses the low insertion loss resources of the optical fiber to combine the light of different wavelengths on one fiber for transmission through the wavelength division multiplexer. The wave filter separates the multiplexing modes of different optical signals into different signals.

A wavelength division multiplexer is an optical passive device that separates and combines wavelengths of light waves. In the fields of high-speed optical fiber communication systems, access networks, and all-optical networks, optical fiber bandwidth resources have broad application prospects. At the same time, the optical fiber and optical cable dynamic condition monitoring in the optical fiber network must also use the wdm technology. One port of the wavelength division multiplexing device is used as the output/input end of the device; N ports are used as the input/output end of the device.

2.  When the wavelength division multiplexer device is used as a demultiplexer, various light wave signals injected into the incident end (single port) are respectively transmitted to the corresponding outgoing end (one of the N ports) according to the wavelength. For different working wavelengths, its output ports are different. When the optical signal of a given operating wavelength is transmitted from the input single port to the corresponding output port, the wavelength division multiplexer device has the lowest insertion loss. The other output ports have ideal isolation from the input optical signal.

When the device is used as a multiplexer, the effect is reversed from that described above. When the optical signal of a given working wavelength is transmitted from the corresponding input port (one of the N ports) to a single port, it has the lowest insertion loss, and other input ports have ideal isolation of the input light.

3.  WDM wavelength division multiplexer refers to a system that can transmit multiple wavelengths in one optical fiber, and converts one optical fiber into multiple signals and decomposes them. WDM usually has three multiplexing methods, namely wavelength division multiplexing of 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths, coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) and dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM).
