(1) The carrying capacity is large. 

At present, optical fiber bandwidth is mainly used in data transmission in our country. The bandwidth that can be transmitted and carried by the fiber is relatively wide, but the data transmission technology is limited, resulting in a low utilization rate of fiber broadband, which is less than 10% of the total bandwidth in many cases, resulting in excessive waste of resources. Through the application of DWDM technology, the data is completely concentrated in one optical fiber, so that the optical fiber bandwidth can be fully utilized, which can not only improve the overall utilization rate of optical fiber bandwidth, effectively reduce the waste of resources and material loss, but also reduce the cost of enterprise operation. At present, the domestic commercial DWDM system in my country can transmit 49.6 million telephone calls. With the development of science and technology, DWDM technology is gradually improving, improving the function of DWDM technology, expanding the capacity of DWDM technology, and increasing the space for carrying capacity infinitely.

(2) The networking is more flexible. 

Through the application of DWDM technology, the number of optical fibers is gradually reduced. By pre-processing the signal, the workload is reduced, the operation cost of the enterprise is saved, and the utilization rate of optical fiber bandwidth is effectively improved. In the networking process, the application of DWDM technology can reduce networking costs and enterprise operating costs. Compared with the traditional division multiplexing technology, its network structure mainly adopts DWDM technology. The network structure is stable, the network hierarchy is clear, the network process is simplified, the network environment is optimized, and the overall flexibility of the network is improved.

(3) The data is gradually separated and integrated. 

The transmission speed of DWDM is not related to the protocol, which is the key advantage of DWDM​. The transmission data based on DWDM network mainly adopts IP protocol, ATM, Ethernet protocol, SONET/SDH for transmission, and handles data traffic within 2.5Gb/s. The network based on DWDM can transmit different data traffic at different speeds on the laser channel. In the transmission process, the problem that does not need to be considered is its own signal rate and data characteristics, so that the data can be effectively separated and integrated.

(4) Strong upgrade ability.

The network based on DWDM can be continuously upgraded to further expand its capacity and make its elastic space increase infinitely. While meeting the needs of users, the new projects in the future can be satisfied and guaranteed on the road of development. The operating speed and service signal types of DWDM technology are different, so that the entire network has strong transparency.

(5) Diversification of network services. 


DWDM has nothing to do with protocol and transmission rate. DWDM network can interface with SDH, ATM, IP and other signals under the condition of complete transparency, so as to provide diversified services for the network.
