The latest report predicts the global single-mode fiber market will grow from $3.02 billion in 2017 to $6.81 billion in 2025. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of single-mode fiber demand supporting 5G deployment, FTTH and related applications will reach 10.8%.

According to the report, the single mode fiber with the highest shipment volume in 2017 was g.652, which accounted for about 87 percent of the total market revenue due to its popularity in long-distance and metropolitan fiber networks. However, Allied Research estimates that g.657 single-mode fiber will grow at a compound annual rate of 19.8 percent over the forecast period, due to its low loss, bending-resistant fiber being widely used in FTTx and enterprise networks, the report notes.

While most single-mode fiber deployments are used in telecom operator networks, current Cable-TV operators are expected to contribute a compound annual growth rate of 16.5% to the layout of the fiber depth architecture.

In addition, while the Asia-pacific region accounted for more than two-thirds of single-mode fiber sales in 2017, north American sales are expected to show a maximum compound annual growth rate of 14.8 percent during the forecast period.
