Dell’Oro Report: The optical transmission equipment market will show a downward trend throughout 2024

The latest report from market research firm Dell’Oro Group shows that the global optical transmission equipment market declined by 13% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024. Currently, Dell’Oro Group expects the market to show a downward trend throughout 2024. Jimmy Yu, vice president of Dell’Oro Group, said: “The excessive inventory of customers’ DWDM systems remains the main reason for the decline in the optical transmission market in the first quarter of 2024.

However, we believe that the decline in the optical transmission market revenue in the first quarter of 2024 exceeded expectations, possibly due to telecom operators becoming increasingly cautious about the macroeconomic situation, causing them to postpone projects to future quarters.” Other key points of this quarterly report on the optical transmission market for the first quarter of 2024 include: · Due to customers dealing with inventory and controlling capital expenditures in an uncertain economic environment, the optical transmission market is expected to decline by 2% in 2024.

The DWDM market declined in most regions of the world. The largest declines were in North America and parts of Asia-Pacific. The only markets that achieved year-on-year growth were China and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions. The Chinese market grew by 8%, and MEA grew by 16%. · Compared to the same period last year, the three suppliers, Cisco, Huawei, and ZTE, increased their market share by more than 1 percentage point in the first quarter of 2024.
