How To Manufacture Fiber Optic Patch Cords?

What is the production process of fiber optic patch cords?

The general steps of the fiber optic patch cords production process: cutting optical cable-wearing parts-dispensing-optical fiber insertion-heating curing-removing glue-grinding-end face inspection-assembly-testing-QA sampling-packaging.

 1. Cut the optical cable: mainly use aramid shears to cut the length of the optical cable as needed, and then simply round it.

 2. Wearing parts: This part is mainly to thread various loose parts onto the optical fiber in advance to facilitate the subsequent procedures. When threading the wire, it is the rubber sheath, heat shrinkable tube, support tube, and spring in sequence. The direction should be paid attention to whether it is correct.

 3. Adhesive: The main thing is to use auxiliary tools to make the partB in the 353nd glue evenly at a ratio of 10:1, and minimize air bubbles.

 4. Optical fiber insertion: first use a fiber stripper to peel off the outer skin and coating of the optical fiber, and then inject the prepared glue into the tail handle of the ferrule with a syringe or a dispenser, and then manually string the optical fiber Insert it into the ferrule filled with glue and expose part of the optical fiber.

 5. Heating and curing: Put the ferrule of the worn fiber into the curing oven for baking. Until the 353nd glue is completely cured.

 6. Glue removal: First cut the cured fiber head with a cleaver to cut off the excess fiber exposed in the front, then put all the fiber heads on the grinding jig, and then polish with glue-removing sandpaper to achieve the purpose of removing the ferrule head.

 7. Grinding: Grind the jig after degumming on a grinder. The general process is 9u3u1u0.5u. There is a certain relationship between grinding time and pressure.

 8. End face inspection: Use an end inspector with a magnification of 400 times to check the grinding effect of the ferrule end face. Under normal circumstances, there are dark spots. The end face with larger scratches is regarded as unqualified. Need to re-grind.

9. Assembly: Assemble the ground ferrules and parts together into a connector, and crimp the tail sleeve with crimping pliers or crimping machine.

10. Test: Use the insertion return loss tester to measure the main data insertion loss and return loss of the optical fiber head. Generally, the insertion loss of the single mode is required to be less than or equal to 0.3dB. The return loss is greater than or equal to 50dB, and the more demanding fiber jumpers need to do 3D interference testing (the main three data are vertex offset, curvature radius, fiber height)

11. QA sampling inspection: QA personnel conduct sampling inspections on qualified products after testing to control quality.

12. Packing: Packing after qualified products. Fiber optic patch cords will ship to customer by DHL/UPS/FEDEX/TNT, or pick up the goods from us.
