On August 13, the AI Era “New” Energy Summit, hosted by SHENZHEN HTFUTURE CO., LTD, was successfully held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Attendees included Priyadi Arie Nugroho, Director of the Industrial Technology Optimization and Industrial Service Policy Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry; a representative from the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs; the Director of the International Communication Committee of the Belt and Road Information Industry Alliance; Bei Qi, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Information Service Outsourcing Development Center; Guan Wangzhen, Chairman of SHENZHEN HTFUTURE CO., LTD; Xu Jianping, President of the Zhuhai Indonesian Returned Overseas Chinese Association; and more than 200 other distinguished guests. Together, they gathered to discuss the “New” Energy New Technology AI Conference and explore core topics concerning the future development of nations.
At present, artificial intelligence is reshaping the global economy and social structure with overwhelming momentum, becoming a key driver of new productive forces. In this process, a solid digital information infrastructure plays a role comparable to high-speed rail connecting cities. As the cornerstone of AI’s rapid development, communication infrastructure supports sustained and steady national economic growth, enhances international competitiveness, and serves as an absolute strategic pillar for achieving “Golden Indonesia 2045.”
It is well known that Indonesia, as the world’s largest archipelagic country with more than 17,000 islands, faces many challenges in building communication infrastructure. Currently, there is still significant room for improvement in the overall development of its communication networks. Compared with neighboring countries, the average download speed of its 5G network is relatively low. Therefore, optical communication networks, submarine cables, and optical transmission are the foundation for AI applications and computing power centers.
Director Priyadi Arie Nugroho emphasized his pleasure in seeing China’s strategic partners working with Indonesia to adapt its communication capabilities for AI development. Both sides jointly proposed the “2045 AI Dual Loop” plan, which aligns with Indonesia’s national “dual-engine” economic development model. The left loop includes Jakarta, Batam Island, the Medan international node, and connects Bandung, Semarang, and Bali to the capital Nusantara. The right loop is based on Manado, linking Samarinda and Balikpapan to Nusantara.
This will undoubtedly further support the “Palapa Ring Integration Project” by reducing costs, minimizing single-point failure risks, and building redundant networks to enhance reliability. More than just improving international bandwidth and regional exchange capacity, it will also bring new investment, technology, and momentum.
In addition to expanding transmission capacity by up to 100 times to meet future AI applications, the plan strengthens interconnectivity between existing Internet Exchange (IX) points and DCI data centers. The “2045 AI Dual Loop” is an ultra-interconnected overall solution that unlocks the potential of the AI Scaling Law, breaks through AI cluster scale bottlenecks, and enables fundamental upgrades for industrial-grade real-time interaction, microsecond-level latency for autonomous driving, and more. As a government representative, the Vice Minister stated that strong support will be provided in terms of policy, funding, and entry conditions.
Deputy Director Bei Qi said that the Chinese side fully agrees with Indonesia in co-building the “2045 AI Dual Loop.” This will strongly support the existing “Palapa Ring Integration Project,” further integrate domestic optical fiber networks, and connect with international submarine cable planning. He also noted that this is a key move for Indonesia to unblock the “meridians” of AI development, consistent with the logic of China’s high-speed rail — connecting regions via lines and reshaping patterns through speed.
As President Joko Widodo has repeatedly praised, China’s high-speed rail has redefined “efficiency” with 35,000 km of operating mileage and a 98.9% on-time rate. Today, the ultra-interconnection, submarine technology, and AI-era new energy brought by China can also prove its strength — with unique expertise in island networking that can be shared and developed jointly with Indonesia.
Addressing Indonesia’s archipelagic characteristics, HTFUTURE’s solution is highly targeted. Guan Wangzhen introduced that the system is compatible with existing vendor equipment standards, solving the early network “technical island” issue. Its construction equipment and capabilities are better suited to Indonesia’s coral reefs, strong ocean currents, and other complex marine environments — improving deep-sea construction efficiency by 50% and reducing maintenance costs by 30%. More importantly, AI and computing power center interconnection requires a high-capacity, fast interconnection communication network. China’s submarine technology and ultra-interconnection solution perfectly address this pain point.
The conference was both active and productive. Telecom operators, internet service providers, and IT service providers responded to the Indonesian government’s initiative: to establish more dedicated investment funds for international submarine cable docking and node upgrades; to organize more professional industry alliances integrating global technology and consulting resources to meet AI networking project needs; and to form more joint-venture construction companies, introducing Chinese construction experience and Indonesian local resources to accelerate submarine cable implementation.
In this AI-led new era, ultra-interconnection, submarine optical cables, and other communication infrastructure are the keys to enabling Indonesia’s leapfrog economic development and its progress toward becoming a strong AI-driven economy.
